It's always inspiring and challenging to transform a space, make it functional and personal. Creating more with less. Icon project was a special one. The brief was to transform an old apartment into more functional space and to reflect client’s, personality. Now, fully renovated, one bedroom apartment located in the heart of South of Fifth. Designed to be in minimal style, natural finish material and art to be a focal point. We love how neutral palette of natural stone and wood floors created an inviting atmosphere, while the custom paneling and artistic lighting added modern and elegant touch. Working with original footprint, we had to be creative.
Some key features of the project are now an open kitchen with an island. It allowed us to open the view visually combining main area in one functional space. We created a small spot for breakfast. We also incorporated a dinning corner with a bench, which provided extra seating, storage, and place to gather. Custom paneling hiding utilities have continuous minimalistic look visually enlarging the space. Reconfigured closet in the bedroom added more closet space and gave an open flow to the primary bathroom where now it has large walk-in shower with stunning marble slabs and custom vanity. This allowed the space to feel much larger and brighter. We added small floating work desk in the bedroom. The art is definitely a focal point, and we wanted to compliment it with a furniture and some choices of paint color.
I hope this project inspires others and be an example of how to create functional and beautiful spaces even if they appear to be small!
